City of Spirit Lake issued the following announcement on Nov. 7.
Veterans Day – City offices are closed Monday, November 11. As always, if Monday is your usual trash pickup day, it will be picked up on Tuesday along with the regular Tuesday routes. Curbside pickup of yard waste will be on Tuesday as well.
Charles Schulz always had a nod to veterans over the years and always celebrated the famous Pulitzer Prize winning journalist and correspondent Ernie Pyle and Pulitzer Prize winning cartoonist Bill Maldin (“Willie and Joe” characters). Take some time to look these guys up if their names are not familiar to your generation and for kids of all ages, Snoopy will help us remember all who have served this great nation.
