CITY OF ORANGE: ATV & Snowmobiles in Orange City - What You Need to Know

Snow(1000)

City of Orange issued the following announcement on Dec. 11.

With the onset of winter, enjoying the new snowfall with our snowmobiles becomes a beckoning call for some. Whenever you are within the city limits of Orange City, please follow these rules:

• Snowmobiles cannot be operated on any streets, alleyways, public park grounds, trails, or sidewalks.

• Snowmobiles are allowed on city streets only in an "emergency" when snowfall has rendered vehicle traffic impractical. However, use of this equipment is at the discretion of local law enforcement.

• ATVs can travel within the city (except Highway 10) provided the owner/operator has obtained the proper permit.

• All ATVs must be inspected by the Orange City Police Department.

• Permits are good for two years.

• Must follow all traffic laws.

Permit application can be downloaded at www.orangecityiowa.com. For more information, please contact the Orange City Police Department at (712)-707-4885.
