CITY OF HAWARDEN: Keep the City’s Sewer Safe

Sewer 1000x667

City of Hawarden issued the following announcement on Mar. 19.

With the current pandemic and shortness of supplies,  some cities across the country are dealing with the reality of citizens flushing alternative things, other than toilet paper, which then becomes an issue to the city’s sewer system and can potentially create health concerns.

Items that should not be flushed are:

Flushable Wipes (Not Really Flushable)

diapers

paper towels

facial tissue

cotton swabs

baby wipes

adult wipes

medicated hygiene wipes

facial pads

cotton balls

women’s hygiene products

all-purpose cleaning wipes

disposable toilet wand pads

makeup remover wipes

shower body wipes

Please make sure your household does your part to ensure the city’s sewer system continues to operate effectively!
