CITY OF SIOUX CENTER: Fireworks Use in Sioux Center

Fireworks 1000x667

City of Sioux Center issued the following announcement on May 21.

Use of fireworks will be allowed in Sioux Center at set hours from June 13 to July 8.

The city follows the state law regarding the times of day during which fireworks are allowed:

• 9 a.m.-10 p.m. on June 13-July 8

• 9 a.m.-11 p.m. on July 4 and the Saturdays and Sundays immediately preceding and following July 4 (up to July 8)

“Fireworks allow for friendly gatherings and fun, but they also bring possible safety concerns,” said Sioux Center Police Chief Mike Halma. “Sioux Center residents should use safety and common sense as they celebrate in order to prevent injuries and property damage. It’s important to have fun, but also to be safe while doing so.”

Using fireworks outside the allowed dates/times is punishable by a fine of at least $250. People must be 18 or older to purchase and use fireworks.
