OBrien County Treasurer recently issued the following announcement.

O’Brien County Tourism Announces “Tour O’Brien County – We’ll See You Outside” Cemetery Tour

O’Brien County Tourism would like you to capture a glimpse of the “Journey’s End” with the next “We’ll See You Outside” tour. This fourth self-guided and social distancing activity is an opportunity to visit each of the cemeteries in O’Brien County. Following a promotion the county tourism group created a few years ago, this tour includes travel and fresh air as well as historical tales of those who lived, worked and died in our county.

The public is invited to locate the grave markers for specific people who have been chosen as a random sample of the captivating past of O’Brien County. Each cemetery will have one or two headstones specially marked with a blue ribbon on an orange stick. Additional information on these graves will be found in your local newspapers and in the PDF file below. An audio tour, “Where the Journey Ends” guidebook, information about cemetery symbolism and more will also be found in the following links. The O’Brien County Tourism committee encourages participants to take pictures of interesting markers they encounter and share them on Instagram: #tourobriencounty or Facebook: Tour O’Brien County.

Everyone’s health is a top priority for O’Brien County Tourism, therefore, they are asking the public to please follow the rules for safe social distancing. These rules will be published in the newspaper along with the other tour information. The Tourism Committee urges you to support our local restaurants by calling ahead for a to-go-box to enjoy while you are exploring.

Click on the links below for additional information.  The audio tour provided for each cemetery is very helpful in locating each grave site.
