City of Sioux Center issued the following announcement on Sept. 15.
Many gathered to celebrate the opening of a new portion of recreation trail that includes a scenic covered wooden bridge.
The City of Sioux Center held a ribbon cutting Tuesday, Sept. 15 for the new trail segment near the Woodbridge residential development just south of Sioux Center Health’s campus in eastern Sioux Center.
The project included adding 1,600 feet of paved recreation trail, connected to existing trail that runs near Sioux Center Health, and adding the covered wooden pedestrian bridge.
Collaborative efforts made this project possible, with the city paying the materials and sitework for the bridge, while Vision Builders designed and built it. In addition, Sioux Center Health partnered on easements for the recreation trail.
This new segment adds to Sioux Center’s more than 7 miles of paved recreation trails.
“This bridge and section of trail creates a new aesthetic element for people who are walking, running or biking on the trails – it takes them across a creek and gives them an opportunity to enjoy the scenery,” said Sioux Center Parks Director Lee Van Meeteren. “We like to add to the ways in Sioux Center for people to get outside and enjoy nature.”
