City of Rock Valley issued the following announcement on Dec. 8.
The City of Rock Valley has announced plans on paving two trail sections in 2021. The City Council has accepted a bid from RC Concrete Construction to pave a 3,300 trail that will start at the Outdoor Sports Complex and conclude at the 17th Street and 31st Avenue intersection. The trail will be eight feet wide and five inches thick and it will abut the south side of 17th Street. There will be a lighted pedestrian crossing sign at the entrance to the Outdoor Sports Complex. The contract calls for the project to be completed by May 31, 2021, the trail will be open prior to the Summer Recreation programs begin.
“The City appreciates the work of the Trail Committee in helping us find a viable location for this trail. This trail will significantly improve the safety of the pedestrians who use 17th Street to assess the Outdoor Sports Complex,” said City Administrator Tom Van Maanen.
The City Crew will be paving a 3,000 foot trail extension from Henry’s Trail (west of 16th Street) to the intersection of 20th Street and 15th Avenue. This trail will be ten foot wide and it will be located on top of the flood berms that were completed this year.
