Avera McKennan Hospital & University Health Center announces appointments to its Board of Trustees for its new fiscal year which began July 1.
Jared Friedman, MD, has been appointed as the new Chief of Staff at Avera McKennan, and serves on the board as a representative of Avera McKennan medical providers.
Dr. Friedman, an emergency medicine specialist, joined Avera Medical Group in 2005. He has served as Clinical Vice President of Avera’s Emergency Medicine Service Line since 2014. He holds a medical degree from the University of South Dakota Sanford School of Medicine and is clinical assistant professor of family medicine at USD.
Alisa Reindl, MD, joins as a board member. Dr. Reindl is a family medicine practitioner with Avera Medical Group McGreevy 7th Avenue. A native of North Dakota, she holds a medical degree from the University of North Dakota School of Medicine & Health Sciences, and joined Avera in 2016. She also serves as clinical assistant professor of family medicine at USD.
Jennifer Bunkers is the incoming chair of the Avera McKennan Regional Philanthropy Council and will represent the council as a member of the Avera McKennan Board through June 30, 2023. Bunkers is a partner in the Boyce Law Firm, LLP. She holds a law degree from the University of South Dakota Knudson School of Law. She serves on the Task Force on Trust Administration Review and Reform for the state of South Dakota and is a member of the Key Club of the South Dakota Community Foundation.
Mary Dally, CPA with Thurman, Comes, Foley & Co., LLP, continues as chair of the Avera McKennan Board of Trustees and Tom Biegler, President and CEO of Regency Hotel Management, continues as Vice Chair.
Avera McKennan thanks Rick Kooima, MD, outgoing Chief of Staff. Dr. Kooima continues as a member of the Board of the Trustees through June 30, 2022. Avera McKennan also thanks outgoing board members Katherine Wang, MD, who is joining the Avera Health Board, and Tom McDowell.
