Wellmark Advantage Health Plan and Avera Health announce today a new offering for Medicare-eligible South Dakotans who are seeking a more comprehensive option come this fall. Blue Medicare Advantage PPO | Avera will be offered in several counties, pending approval from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).

Medicare Advantage is an all-in-one health plan that combines Medicare Part A and Medicare Part B coverage with additional, more robust benefits that may include prescription drug coverage, preventive care, dental, vision, hearing and other services like meal services and fitness memberships.

Once approved, Blue Medicare Advantage PPO | Avera plan will be available in 15 counties starting with the annual enrollment period, Oct. 15 through Dec. 7, 2022 for coverage starting on Jan. 1, 2023. Individuals who newly qualify for Medicare are also able to purchase this plan throughout 2023.
