Myers Named New Head Golf Coach at Iowa Lakes

The Iowa Lakes Community College Athletics Department announces Emmetsburg native Mike Myers as the new Head Men’s and Women’s Golf Coach starting February 1, 2023, completing the remainder of the current golf season and preparing for the upcoming 2023-2024 season.

“We are excited to add Mike to the Iowa Lakes Athletics and Admissions staff. Having been a student-athlete, Mike believes in Iowa Lakes and its impact on students. Combining his understanding of Iowa Lakes with his love and knowledge of the sport of golf makes him the ideal candidate for the position,” said Troy Larson, Iowa Lakes’ Athletic Director. “Looking forward to following his successes within the golf program.”

In high school, Myers competed in the state tournament for three out of four years. Myers graduated from Emmetsburg High School in 2014 and Iowa Lakes in 2016 with an Associate in Arts degree. Then, Myers attended Midland University in Nebraska, obtaining his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Marketing. Recently, Myers worked at Poet Bioprocessing in Emmetsburg before committing to be the new Head Men’s and Women’s Golf Coach.

Myers played two years of junior college golf at Iowa Lakes before attending Midland University, where he played varsity golf and served as Team Captain for two years. While at Midland University, Myers earned honorable mention honors during his Junior year at the Great Plains Athletic Conference.

“Iowa Lakes Community College has one of the best options to get acclimated to the college atmosphere while having great opportunities to cultivate lifelong relationships with professors, coaches, students, and teammates,” said Myers. “As an admissions and golf coach, I aim to provide every resource Iowa Lakes offers to help each student get one step closer to reaching their goals academically and athletically.”
