Randy Feenstra, a U.S. Congressman representing Iowa's 4th district, shared several tweets on February 11, 2025, expressing his views on various issues affecting his constituents and the broader community. Feenstra, who has been serving in Congress since 2021 after replacing Steve King, is known for his advocacy on agricultural and economic matters.
On February 11, 2025, Feenstra expressed gratitude towards livestock producers in Iowa who continue to care for their animals despite harsh weather conditions. He emphasized Iowa's critical role as a food provider by stating: "Thank you to our livestock producers who still care for their animals despite the snow and ice. Iowa truly is the breadbasket to our country and the world!"
Later that day, he highlighted legislative efforts aimed at preventing foreign ownership of American farmland. Feenstra noted that in 2023, the House GOP passed the Lower Energy Costs Act with an amendment he proposed to ban China from purchasing American farmland intended for domestic energy production. However, he lamented that Senate Democrats did not bring it up for a vote: "In 2023, @HouseGOP passed the Lower Energy Costs Act, which included my amendment to BAN China from buying American farmland suitable for domestic energy production. But Senate Democrats refused to bring it up for a vote. We must act NOW to keep China away from our farmland!"
Feenstra also addressed tax policy by criticizing what he described as an unfair tax burden on family farms and small businesses. He advocated for the passage of legislation aimed at repealing what he termed as a "death tax": "The death tax is an egregious double tax that unfairly targets our family farms & small businesses. We need to pass the Death Tax Repeal Act to get rid of the death tax for good & ensure that our families, farmers, and small businesses can keep more of their hard-earned money."
