Randy Feenstra, currently serving in the U.S. Congress, representing Iowa's 4th district, conveyed his views and recent actions regarding federal disaster relief and energy independence on April 16, 2025, through a series of tweets.
On April 16, 2025, Rep. Feenstra stated, "I just joined Senator @ChuckGrassley, @SenJoniErnst, @RepAshleyHinson, @RepMMM & @ZachNunn in urging President Trump to approve @IAGovernor's request for federal disaster relief following damaging storms that hit Iowa on March 19th. We appreciate President Trump's work for Iowa."
Later that day, he emphasized the necessity of ensuring energy independence and supporting the agricultural sector by advocating for permanent access to certain fuel alternatives. At 19:55 UTC, Feenstra tweeted, "In Iowa and across the Midwest, our farmers grow the solution to cheaper gas and energy independence. We need permanent year-round access to #E15 nationwide to lower gas prices for families, expand economic opportunities for farmers, and reduce our dependence on foreign energy."
Furthering his legislative agenda, Feenstra articulated the need to amend current tax regulations to benefit family-owned farms in another tweet later on April 16. He wrote, "We need to extend the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act to protect the increased death tax exemption for our farmers. I'm also leading legislation to permanently repeal the death tax on our family farms. The federal government should not be sending grieving families a massive tax bill."
Feenstra has been actively serving Iowa’s 4th District since 2021 after previously serving in the Iowa Senate from 2009 to 2021. Born in Hull, Iowa in 1969, the congressman is a Dordt University graduate and maintains his residence in Hull.
