Randy Feenstra, a U.S. Congressman representing Iowa's 4th district since 2021, recently shared his views and legislative actions on social media. Feenstra, who succeeded Steve King in Congress and previously served in the Iowa Senate from 2009 to 2021, expressed his commitment to various issues affecting law enforcement and agriculture.
On May 14, 2025, Feenstra emphasized the importance of preserving concealed carry rights for retired law enforcement officers. He stated, "When police and law enforcement officers retire, they shouldn't lose their right to concealed carry." He argued that these privileges are crucial for community safety as they enable trained officers to respond to violent crimes even after retirement.
Later that day, Feenstra reflected on National Police Week by meeting with members of the Iowa State Police Association. In a tweet posted at 23:30 UTC, he noted the productive discussions about enhancing mental health support for law enforcement and addressing recruitment challenges across Iowa's rural areas. He wrote, "As we celebrate National Police Week, it was great to meet with members of the Iowa State Police Association."
In another update on May 15, 2025, Feenstra announced legislative progress related to agriculture. He tweeted about passing a portion of President Trump's proposed legislation aimed at SNAP integrity and farm security. The post read: "My @HouseAgGOP colleagues and I just PASSED our SNAP Integrity and Farm Security portion of President Trump’s 'One, Big, Beautiful Bill!'" This legislation aligns with his priorities of expanding export markets and reducing crop insurance costs for future farmers.
Randy Feenstra was born in Hull, Iowa in 1969 and graduated from Dordt University in 1991 with a BA. At age 54, he continues to reside in Hull while serving his constituents in Congress.
