He stated, "I am horrified by the despicable and antisemitic terror attack in Boulder carried out by a deranged criminal unlawfully in our country." He further expressed solidarity with Americans affected by the event, including a Holocaust survivor who was part of a peaceful march supporting Israeli hostages.

Feenstra was born in Hull, Iowa in 1969 and graduated from Dordt University with a BA in 1991.
