Dordt University recently issued the following announcement.

The Dordt University Music Department is presenting a guest recital featuring The BS Project duo comprised of Susan Miranda on oboe and Brian Handeland on saxophone on Friday, January 21 at 7:30 p.m. in the B.J. Haan Auditorium.

Susan Miranda is the oboe instructor at Dordt and is an entrepreneur and founder of Chione Quintet, BS Project, and co-founder of Dúo León. Hailing from West St. Paul, Minnesota, Miranda teaches at universities in both Iowa and Minnesota, and is a sought out oboe teacher in the Twin Cities as her Chromatic Fusion Oboe Studio boasts students who have attended honor bands throughout Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Iowa.

The BS Project is a Twin Cities-based duo created to expand the limited repertoire written for oboe and saxophone. In 2019, they held a call for scores and received over 80 new works for the instrument pairing. Currently immersed in a multi-site Art Park "Mini Concert Series," they are premiering these new compositions for oboe, saxophone, and all their instruments’ variations. In spring of 2022 the ensemble will go on tour to universities throughout Kentucky, Tennessee, Kansas, and Oklahoma, stopping for a multi-day residency at Murray State University and culminating with a performance at the North American Saxophone Alliance (NASA) Conference at Oklahoma State University. The ensemble is in the process of recording their first CD which will be comprised of color and art inspired music.

As an institution of higher education committed to the Reformed Christian perspective, Dordt University equips students, faculty, alumni, and the broader community to work toward Christ-centered renewal in all aspects of contemporary life. Located in Sioux Center, Iowa, Dordt is a comprehensive university named to the best college lists by U.S. News and World Report, Forbes.com, Washington Monthly, and Princeton Review.
