Northwest Iowa Community College recently issued the following announcement.
James Chuma, Sheldon, has been awarded the Mindy Wimmer Witham “Overcomer” Memorial Scholarship by the Northwest Iowa Community College Foundation. This is a $500 scholarship. Chuma was selected due to his academic achievement, potential for success, and the ability to overcome obstacles in his life. James is currently a Nursing student.
The purpose of the Mindy Wimmer Witham “Overcomer” Memorial Scholarship is to remember the life of Mindy Witham. She attended NCC for Administrative Secretarial and upon graduating, began an 18 year career in the Admissions Office of the College. Through Mindy’s many personal hardships, she always continued to put others first and worked hard to “overcome” any challenge that came her way. Mindy passed away after a courageous battle with cancer in March 2016 and will be remembered for her strong will and desire to “overcome” whatever obstacle is put in front of her.s
