Dordt University recently issued the following announcement.
From February 24 to 26, Dordt University’s Music Department will welcome 100 high school musicians to campus for the first annual Dordt University Honor Band Weekend. Attendees represent seven different states, including as far away as Idaho and Washington.
Students were recommended by their band directors and submitted video auditions in order to be placed in two ability-based honor bands. Rehearsals will take place Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, with a final concert presented at 1 p.m. on Saturday, February 26. Dr. Onsby C. Rose, Dordt’s director of instrumental ensembles, will conduct the Honors Wind Symphony and Dr. Allegra Fisher, Dordt’s assistant director of instrumental ensembles, will conduct the Honors Symphonic Band.
