Dordt Wind Symphony to Perform March 18

Dordt University recently issued the following announcement.

The Dordt University Wind Symphony will perform a concert at Dordt at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, March 18 in the B.J. Haan Auditorium. This concert is part of a spring tour with performances scheduled in Missouri, New Mexico, California, Colorado, and Iowa.

Under the baton of Associate Professor and Director of Instrumental Studies Dr. Onsby C. Rose, the Wind Symphony will perform a broad repertoire. Featured soloist will be Janna Vanden Brink on flute performing the Chaminade “Concertino for Flute.” Other program highlights include the music of Gustav Holst, John Mackey, Steven Bryant, Frank Ticheli, and Percy Grainger. The ensemble will conclude their concert with the final movement of Rose’s “Symphony No. 1 – IV. For the Fallen” as well as John Phillip Sousa’s “The Stars and Stripes Forever.” The concert is free, with a freewill offering received to help defray tour expenses.

Dordt University has approximately 320 U.S. and international students who participate in the music program, with opportunities to perform in five choral groups, two orchestras, and four bands. Music scholarships are available to qualified students. Learn more at dordt.edu/music.
