The Iowa Lakes Community College Board of Trustees met Tuesday afternoon at the SERT Facility on the Estherville Campus.
Scott Stokes, Executive Dean of the Estherville Campus, kicked off Tuesday’s meeting by introducing Kevin Tlam, Digital, Social, and Broadcast Productions Program Coordinator, and Jason White, Adjunct Instructor. Both instructors are Iowa Lakes Community College graduates who returned as instructors in 2015, Tlam graduated in 1997, and White in 1999.
“It is a great honor to teach at Iowa Lakes and share my passion of radio broadcasting with our students. Being a graduate, I understand the journey our students experience, and it has been so rewarding to watch the Digital, Social, and Broadcast productions program grow,” said Tlam.
Tlam shared, “The Digital, Social, and Broadcast Productions program started in 2015 to provide individuals with the tools needed to meet the global communications challenges in the modern era. The program focuses on building foundational skills that apply across all mediums associated with digital communications, from graphics and multimedia projects to digital and social media to radio and television productions.”
Morgan Larson, a December 2021 graduate of the program, was also in attendance and shared her experiences with the Board. “The program allowed me to experience a whole different side of media and pushed me to get out of my comfort zone while learning essential concepts needed to advance my career. I am ready to advance as a marketing specialist with a local organization, and I can thank Iowa Lakes for the expertise gained during my time as a student,” said Larson.
