More than $101,000 in grants were recently awarded to local organizations and government units through the Sioux County Community Foundation.
“The mission of the community foundation is to encourage and provide opportunities for charitable giving, to manage and distribute funds in a responsible manner and to enhance the quality of life for the people of Sioux County,” states an article on the N’West Iowa Review.
Grants of $10,000 were awarded to The Book Bank in Maurice, the City of Ireton, Hawarden Parks and Recreation Committee, Hull Bright Start Inc., Rock Valley Fire Department, Sioux County Library Association, Siouxland Habitat for Humanity and Zestos Inc. in Alton.
Grants of $7,500 were awarded to the City of Boyden and Granville Improvement Club.
Grants were also presented to the Rock Valley Police Department in the amount of $3,862.55, Justice For All in Rock Valley in the amount of $2,050 and Northwest Iowa Symphony Orchestra in the amount of $1,000.
Recipients were chosen by the foundation’s advisory board which consists of representatives from Sioux County’s incorporated communities.
