Iowa is now being urged to adopt more restrictions as it puts the state in the “red zone” after a spike in COVID-19 cases, according to Iowa Public Radio.
The rating came after a report issued to the White House Coronavirus Task Force revealed that Iowa is one of 18 states that need to revert back to previous restrictions after a rise in positive cases.
Earlier this month, more than 100 people per 100,000 tested positive for the coronavirus, which was deemed a pandemic earlier this year.
While this puts Iowa in the “yellow zone” since the rate is between 5 and 10%, five counties are in the red zone: Webster, Sioux, Franklin, Clarke and Osceola. It’s suggested that these counties shut down bars and gyms, steer clear of dining indoors, and not gathering with more than 10 people.
Forty-two other counties are in the yellow zone with Polk, Johnson, Black Hawk, Dubuque and Story counties with the highest cases.
