The O’Brien County Board of Supervisors recently heard COVID-19 updates and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) said a vaccine may be available this month.

According to the CDC, there are multiple plausible vaccines being developed. The CDC also announced that as of Oct. 14, four of the vaccines are going through clinical trials.

Kim Morran, an administrator for the county public health office, said the CDC tells her to be ready for a vaccine this month.

“They’re saying to be ready by Nov. 1, so I think anytime in November is a possibility. I don’t know if that will happen or not, but that’s what they’re telling us to shoot for,” Morran said in a press release.

The CDC also reported that certain groups may be eligible to receive the vaccine before the general public, including those with underlying medical conditions and people 65 years and older.
