Avera Holy Family Hospital recently issued the following announcement.
Avera Foundation will participate in GivingTuesday, a global day of giving set to take place on Nov. 30. This year, all Giving Tuesday contributions will be matched to support the expansion of the Avera Behavioral Health Center in Sioux Falls, SD.
Avera Foundation officially launched fundraising efforts for GivingTuesday Nov. 1. The month-long fundraising initiative will culminate on Tuesday, Nov. 30. Local businesses and individuals have provided significant match opportunities, doubling the impact of every gift.
Mike Huether, co-chair of the Light the Way Campaign, shares why he is happy to see the project move forward. “My wife and I are truly excited about supporting Light the Way this GivingTuesday. The impact it will have on youth, adults and families dealing with mental illness will be monumental. Behavioral and mental health concerns affect every one of us in some way, whether it be personally, a family member, friend or colleague. That’s why we feel driven to do our part and hope this opportunity leads supporters down a similar path.”
The $28 million addition to the Avera Behavioral Health Center will house for residential addiction care for youth, as well as 24/7 behavioral health urgent care for all ages in Sioux Falls and surrounding areas. Currently, the need for psychiatric care for at-risk youth is great and Avera Behavioral Health is the only provider within a 250-mile radius. This is the first time Avera will offer partial hospitalization to youth, allowing them to spend part of their day in school and part of their day making progress on their behavioral health condition to help improve their overall quality of life.
