State Rep. Megan Jones (R-Sioux Rapids) said the recently concluded 2020 legislative session was unlike any the Iowa House of Representatives has experienced before.
“The session was suspended, abbreviated and hyphenated,” Jones, an attorney by profession, said on her online newsletter.
The lawmaker referred to the words of fellow Rep. Jon Thorup, who said the House did well despite the COVID-19 pandemic and the protests triggered by the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis police custody.
“Rep. Thorup [sic] really did a great job summarizing the session and some of our legislative work,” Jones said on her newsletter. “Not everyone's priorities were completed. Other's checked every box on their list. Some of our greatest wins for our constituents most people will never notice. And the background noise of a bill- goes far beyond the four corners of the page.”
Jones echoed Thorup’s sentiments saying she and her colleagues were able to accomplish a lot of good in what has become a year unlike any other.
