In Plymouth County, three northwest Iowa school districts will be adapting to the COVID-19 crisis and adopting a hybrid learning format for their schools.

The reason for this change is because of the high amount of COVID-19 cases that the districts have seen, Iowa Public Radio reported. Student absences have increased due to the amount of COVID-19 cases in the three northwest school districts that are converting to hybrid learning.

Hinton Community School District, Marcus Meriden Cleghorn School District and Remsen Union School District are the three school districts that are converting to the new learning system.

Hinton School District’s hybrid learning plan includes in-person student learning on either Mondays and Wednesdays or Tuesdays and Thursdays, with remote learning for the rest of the week. Hinton’s hybrid learning began Sept. 2.

Marcus Meriden Cleghorn and Remsen Union School Districts will have approximately half of their students learning in person on Mondays and Tuesdays, and learning remotely on Thursdays and Fridays. The other part of the student body for both school districts will learn in person on Thursdays and Fridays and will learn remotely on Mondays and Tuesdays. The two school district's hybrid learning started Sept. 3.
